David Oakley and Helen Reilly have been in the educational publishing business for the past 22 years. David cut his design teeth at Mary Glasgow Publications where he designed ELT magazines. MGP (now Scholastic) is still the strongest publisher of photocopiable books and materials for ELT teachers. Since those days, Dave has been designing and illustrating a wealth of educational material including ELT books, school books, trade books, and corporate material for Pearson, Oxford University Press, Voyageur and Tangent Publishers here in Bristol. Helen Reilly has been a media researcher and art editor for 20 years and has worked for all the major educational publishers: OUP. Macmillan, Pearson, John Murray Publishers, Nelson Thorne, Carroll Heinemann, CUP, Blackwells. She has huge experience in commissioning illustrations, researching still photos, footage and audio files. She also manages both still photoshoots and video production. She also specialises in free media research where reproduction fees are kept to a minimum by sourcing from corporate or other free sources. This is especially apposite for vocational sector books/on-line products. Helen has an extensive contact book and has a good eye for new and inspirational artists. She has managed all photographic and illustrative material on best-selling ELT series such as Thumbs Up!, Explore, English Alive, Spotlight and English Plus (OUP). Together they form a very competent team and are pretty unflappable! |
